Fredric Effects announce The Accomplished Badger
This Germanium preamp is rather sophisticated indeed.
Fredric Effects have announced the Accomplished Badger, an original two stage boost, with an opamp buffer/boost driving a Germanium transistor gain stage.
Tested for optimal gain and low leakage, the Germanium transistors used are individually selected vintage new-old-stock components. Because of the nature of these two gain stages, the Accomplished Badger can be used as a sparkly clean boost, to just push an amp to breakup, or for a grittier saturated sound like a torn speaker or an overloaded recording desk tone. More versatile than straight clean boosts, the Accomplished Badger promises to be a fantastic "always-on" effect.
The Accomplished Badger is available now for £95.
Fredric Effects announce Utility Perkolator MkII
A classic Harmonic Perkolator with some unique new features.
The Utility Perkolator based the fabled Interfax Harmonic Percolator from the 1970s. The Harmonic Percolator is a simple yet fascinating circuit which readily lends itself to tweaking and improvement. Fredric Effects already build a faithfully vintage correct version of the Harmonic Percolator, however the Utility Perkolator takes this circuit in another direction. Using higher gain, lower leakage Russian Germanium transistors, and a low pass filter which only removes the high-end hisses and glitches associated with the HP, the Utility Perkolator has a considerably lower noise floor. The result is a tighter and more controllable effect which is still capable of producing the classic Harmonic Percolator sound.
The Utility Perkolator MkII is available in attractive 'cold war cream' with two colour black/metallic silver screen printed artwork featuring the Berlin TV Tower for £95 RRP.

Fredric Effects release Deeply Unpleasant Companion
This fuzz is actually rather pleasant if you like that sort of thing.

Fredric Effects have announced the Deeply Unpleasant Companion bass fuzz pedal.
The Deeply Unpleasant Companion is an improved version of the Shin-Ei FY-2 Companion Fuzz. Following requests from bass players, Fredric have modified this circuit to preserve more of the low frequencies and added a clean blend function, allowing the user to mix the clean signal with the fuzz according to taste. The buffers used in the blend circuit also have the added bonus of bringing a touch more clarity to the fuzz than the standard Unpleasant Companion, while retaining its uncompromising character.
Like the company's Unpleasant Companion, this pedal also features a volume boost to avoid the volume drop characteristic of vintage Shin-Ei FY-2 pedals. Check out the Fredric demo here:
